ABOUT
Alberta Prevents is an Alberta Health Services initiative to educate Albertans on the prevention of cancer and other chronic diseases. The focus is on accessibility, and a low-stress, personable approach to a serious topic.

This project offered the unique opportunity for me to do one of my favourite things: design the website and refresh the brand simultaneously.
To keep the audience engaged and break up the text on the more information-heavy pages, we focused on creating a pattern library containing callouts, pull-quotes, illustrations, and colour.
Because this site is so information-dense and because accessibility is such a high priority, it was vital that we streamlined the content on smaller devices.
I had the wonderful opportunity to work with talented illustrator Julie McLaughlin to develop the illustrative style for this site.
Almost 100 unique icons were developed for Alberta Prevents. They were integral in defining the brand's look and feel, as well as making the content feel more personable and approachable.
It was very important to the client that the illustrations adhere to the brand colour palette. Together with the client and with our illustrator, we developed additional colours for use only in the illustrations.
